Award-winning documentary "Wilder than Wild: Fire, Forests, and the Future" Screening & Panel Discussion

Mar 12, 2019
07:30 PM until 09:15 PM

Sustainable Lafayette and Town Hall Theatre are co-hosting a screening of the award-winning documentary Wilder than Wild: Fire, Forests, and the Future,a one-hour documentary that reveals how fire suppression and climate change have exposed Western landscapes to large, high intensity wildfires. The film explores strategies that are being developed to help mitigate the impact of these fires.

The screening at Town Hall is part of a larger effort to engage communities in conversations about the future of wildfires that have become increasingly destructive and devastating in North California. A panel discussion will follow the hour-long film, featuring Contra Costa Fire Deputy Chief Lewis Broschard; Lafayette Mayor Cam Burks; Jay Lifson, Executive Director of the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce; Duncan Siebert, Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program Manager, and environmental author and Sustainable Lafayette board member James Leach (who will also serve as the panel’s moderator).

The panel will discuss local wildfire mitigation measures; emergency preparedness and evacuation plans; Lafayette’s “Firewise” program, and air quality concerns.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for youth and seniors.
